Kimberly Reeves didn’t plan on a career in workforce solutions, but upon taking a role on the supplier side in 2007, she found it to be an amazing industry. Today, as director of contingent workforce strategies at Centene Corp., she loves that she gets to be an agent of change and create solutions for Centene.

Reeves joined the healthcare organization in 2018 and has spearheaded Centene’s transformation from a decentralized, in-house solution to a fully managed solution for the temporary workforce, IT statement-of-work, and headcount tracking for compliance and visibility over the remaining contingent workforce.

In addition, Reeves has worked closely with the internal D&I team to develop a clear diversity strategy.  The program is on track to accomplish 25% spend with diverse suppliers by the end of 2021 and is now tracking diversity in the workforce as well . “Our plan is to continue to increase our diversity spend while also assisting our suppliers in developing their plans to provide a diverse workforce to Centene.”

While the past year added a layer of challenge for all, Reeves takes pride in the way Centene reacted to the recent pandemic, “We did it successfully. There was not much of a pause.” Her program’s processes and solutions enabled them to work swiftly, communicate effectively and provide people the ability to remain productive. “While there is a plan to return to office, [the experience] taught us what we can actually accomplish.”
