Tor Redman is the global contingent workforce program lead at bp, the global oil, gas and energy company. In this role, Redman oversees the global expansion of the contingent workforce program, which currently has a presence in 10 countries, and holds significant spend supporting the talent agenda at BP.

Growing the total talent framework at bp requires business buy-in, so Redman invests her time in educating the business about the merits of the contingent workforce program as a strategic complement to permanent hiring needs, and the correct channels to engage with to obtain third-party talent. She takes great satisfaction in seeing the impact that hiring the right people can have on the business, especially those with high potential for growth.

A champion for diversity, Redman implemented a direct sourcing model in the US through a partnership with a women-owned business. In addition to supporting bp’s goal to increase diverse supplier spend, this program has significant cost savings for the business. Redman is also partnering with digital skills providers to identify diverse talent that will help address the digital skills gap at bp and will provide a pipeline of diverse contingent talent for career development opportunities within the business.

At bp, an often-used phrase is to “perform as we transform,” and Redman is transforming the future of contingent hiring by opening the door to possibility and moving one step at a time toward total talent management.
