As global senior category lead of external workforce solutions, Maurice Benz sets the strategic direction and brings innovation to Novartis’s external workforce ecosystem.

As attraction and retention have been a challenge the last few years, Benz knows that finding the right talent is important, so he is focused on access to talent and candidate experience as Novartis grows and expands globally. He is also supporting the execution of an integrated workforce management strategy and its principles, including a guidance and decision tool to ensure first-time right sourcing/shoring of workforce requirements.

A repeat CW Program Game Changer, Benz has spent the last year redefining external worker types, deploying an external workforce management policy including e-learning training content, and developing a total workforce dashboard. He also redesigned the external workforce core business model, consolidating and optimizing the MSP footprint, enabling the program to expand into additional countries to manage $1.1 billion. The first seven countries have gone live, and 16 more countries are on the horizon.

Going forward, Benz, who has 15 years’ experience in the contingent workforce space, wants to continue the transformation of the organization to a more holistic approach and an engaging workforce that meets the talent and workforce needs of Novartis for now and in the future.
