Mark Calimlim is known for his leadership, commitment to collaboration and passion for making complex systems work smoothly and reliably for all stakeholders. As VP of corporate procurement for Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits, he oversees a robust contingent worker program that stretches across 45 states and includes job categories from drivers and light industrial to IT and professional services. Southern Glazer’s the largest alcohol wine and spirits distributor in the US, according to Forbes.

Recently, Calimlim has been focused on the company’s labor supply chain. When Southern Glazer’s MSP program went live in 2019, their suppliers had a wide range of contracts, with significant differences in markups per labor category, conversion terms, overtime factors and other elements. Working closely with vendor partners and business stakeholders, Calimlim successfully led an effort to create a standard MSA. His team also launched a timekeeping automation solution that simultaneously drives compliance and spend accuracy, making it easier for managers to run their operations and ensure that workers are paid correctly and on time.

Calimlim has also been focused on achieving Southern Glazer’s DE&I goals. In 2022, he oversaw the launch of a program designed to improve diversity among the company’s service vendors. This resulted in an increase in the organization’s MSP partnerships with diverse-owned vendors that defied all expectations — currently approximately 30% of total program spend and rising. Calimlim’s team is also working on ways to make it easier for contingent workers to pursue full-time careers with Southern Glazer by expanding their temp-to-perm programs.
