Kyla Bhavsar’s 15-plus years’ experience in the staffing world is helping her innovate and drive impactful changes at Telus. As telecommunications company’s external labor manager, Bhavsar leads a contingent workforce program of approximately 1,500 contractors and is continually looking for ways to innovate. “We’re not satisfied with the status quo,” she explains. Rather, her team thinks in terms of, “‘If it’s not broken, how can we make it better?’ and constantly explores other ways to innovate and improve the program,” Bhavsar describes.

Success stories include a market event that Bhavsar ran for Telus’ Contingent Payroll Services. The event identified a new supplier that brought high collaboration and ingenuity to the forefront of her program – resulting in new thought leadership and a seamless migration of over 700 workers and $750,000 in savings. Bhavsar also embarked on a customer journey mapping project with her internal service design team to better understand the end-to-end journey of an end user and identify opportunities to enhance the experience.

Within the last four months, Bhavsar successfully launched a direct sourcing program in response to the current labor market. “I’m thrilled about the prospect of going to market and amplifying Telus’ brand to attract and retain our own private talent community,” she shares.

Over the next three years, Bhavsar plans to continue to be a pioneer in the evolution of direct sourcing programs, in addition to progressing and transforming her contingent workforce program at Telus.
