Kerry Kiley manages all the processes, policies and initiatives around the contingent workforce in her role as senior contingent workforce program manager at Workday. To do this, she draws on 22 years’ experience from both the staffing and buyer side of the ecosystem.

She spent the first half of her career on the staffing side of the ecosystem before moving to contingent workforce management for companies with large contingent workforces, including Google and Facebook. She joined Workday in 2019.

For Kiley, the space has many challenges, but the most difficult part of any contingent workforce program, she believes, is unpredictability — in both the human element and market changes. She believes what motivates people changes frequently and that the workforce drivers can change depending on economic and market conditions.

But Kiley and her team have risen to the occasion, with a proud moment coming to fruition recently when Workday replaced its legacy vendor management system with the recently acquired VMS from Vndly. According to Kiley, this shift, fueled by the Vndly Workforce Connector for Workday, has automated critical processes for her and the team.

“I’m excited about our ability to have a technology-supported program that is global in nature and provides for increased transparency, simplified processes, less manual work and automation,” she says.

Looking ahead, Kiley plans to continue to focus on supporting the business while providing a great assignment experience for those contingent workers.
