Since joining Marriott International in 2021 as director, of Flex Talent Solutions, Amy Geiger has championed the Fortune 100 organization’s internally run program, expanded its boundaries and bolstered its capabilities.

The unique program operates as its own employer-of-record for most of its headquarters-based contingent workers, or “Flex Associates.” It currently serves only the US, although there are plans for expansion — first to Canada and then potentially into the Caribbean and Latin America. The program provides contingent workers to Marriott’s headquarters and above property operations as well as Marriott-managed properties, or non-franchise locations, across the country.

Geiger in June launched a direct sourcing program to build out Marriott’s talent pools and benefit from its employer brand. And after a year-long RFP, she is also implementing a new VMS to launch by early next year. And in July, she eliminated Marriott’s MSP, bringing all supplier relationships in-house and placing full control of all US contingent labor channels under one umbrella.  In addition, Marriott is introducing an independent contractor compliance program this year, which will launch in tandem with a statement-of-work module in the new VMS.

“I love the energy around contingent work right now,” Geiger says. “I think that if you are an organization that is not keeping up with trends and contingent work, you’re behind. And so, I appreciate that leadership at our organization understands the importance of this pocket of the workforce and is leaning into building it and investing in it.”
