Alan Kumar is driven by curiosity. Early in his career, Kumar fell into staffing, and soon after, his intrigue expanded to the systems, people and organizations that underscored the needs he was supporting. After holding a variety of positions within the VMS, MSP and internal management space from startup to Fortune 500 organizations, Kumar is now applying his experience and insights to developing the Elastic Talent Program for Dolby Laboratories, a leader in creating immersive audio and visual experiences for movies, TV, music and gaming.

Central to Kumar’s vision is a mission of optimal business outcomes through workforce scalability. The Elastic Talent Program, operating globally across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC, champions creativity, adaptability, and efficiency. It holistically oversees non-employee resources — from staff augmentation, freelancers, and vendors to SOW and outsourced/managed service solutions.

One of Kumar’s recent achievements is the successful pilot of an innovative direct sourcing model. This pilot prioritized deconstructing work and embracing the concept of “fractional talent” to leverage freelancers, reduce dependencies on individual points of failure and focus on finding right-fit talent solutions more quickly and flexibly.

Recognizing the intricate needs for internal leaders, Kumar’s team has also crafted a comprehensive toolkit for managers. This toolkit offers customized solutions based on geography, time zone, skills/expertise and budget considerations, ensuring managers are empowered in their decision-making. Under Kumar’s leadership, the team also streamlined vendor partnerships, eliminating redundancies, and concurrently bolstering strategic global partnerships.

Kumar’s transformative leadership and commitment to talent diversity and agility have set new benchmarks on how Dolby views and harnesses Elastic Talent.
