Jamhali Portus is responsible for the successful enterprise-wide transformation of the NetApp alternative workforce program into the NetApp talent ecosystem. As senior program manager of alternative workforce at the company, she describes the program as large scale, with 6,500 alternative workers in 38 countries and 400 suppliers.

With experience managing a contingent workforce from both the vendor and buyer sides, Portus is passionate about creating a best-in-class program with a focus on quality, efficiency, cost and risk.

February saw what she considers her greatest achievement to date with the successful implementation of a streamlined VMS to manage the alternative workforce. “Before [this VMS], several homegrown tools were used to manage [the program] compliantly, but a lot of key elements were missing in them, and a new process was imperative for the organization,” she says.

Looking ahead, Portus will continue to drive the strategy in partnership with a steering committee comprising executives from cross-functional teams to bring change in how they effectively manage their global alternative workforce to bring value to the business and workforce.
