As the director of skills management and workforce solutions at Siemens Healthineers, Paul Petersen is responsible for the supplier strategy enabling the FlexForce program. Petersen assumed his current role in 2016, bringing with him nearly three decades of experience in the staffing industry.

Among the most notable of Peterson’s accomplishments has been the recent launch of the company’s FlexForce Tech program, which delivers fully vetted, vendor-trained, licensed technologists to healthcare organizations. The FlexForce Tech program is open to all imaging modalities. A key highlight of this program is its enhanced recruiting capabilities, incorporating both W-2 employees and 1099 independent contractors.

One of the biggest challenges to establishing the program was designing and implementing a supply base that met its current needs, while ensuring scalability. This launch was a team effort for those within the Siemens Healthineers Education & Workforce Solutions business. Going forward, Petersen looks to scale the FlexForce program internationally; it is currently being modeled in three other countries.

The ever-changing nature of the CW space is the very thing that attracts Petersen to it. “Tomorrow there’s going to be some technological impact somewhere that we’re going to have to address. The good news is it’s talent management; and the industry is filled with problem solvers to help make this not a challenge, but just the next adventure.”
