Jean-Marie Medina serves as global lead of talent acquisition operations at The Depository Trust & Clearing Corp. (DTCC), managing the firm’s entire contingent worker program, which onboards over 1,000 workers a year around the world.

Since launching the program in April 2017, Medina and her team have created a true multi-channel workforce that effectively leverages contingent worker skills and talents within the firm. “In fact, it has become a critical channel for us. Last year, we converted close to 30% of our contingent labor workforce to full time employees,” she says. Prior to the program, DTCC’s contingent worker engagement, hiring and oversight was managed in silos across individual businesses.

At the same time, Medina and her team were able to drive significant improvements in the DTCC onboarding process. Working with key stakeholders, the team decreased the overall onboarding time to approximately 15 days from more than 30, resulting in reduced turnover as well as a jump in manager satisfaction, from 63% to approximately 80% within just six months.

Believing a strong workforce includes not only full-time employees, but also contingent workers, contractors and freelancers who all contribute and play a key role in enabling the firm’s success, Medina looks forward to spending the next year “further embracing the multi-channel workforce,” and continuing to engage in holistic conversations with leaders that ensure the firm is globally staffed to succeed.
