Gordon Powell serves as the IT vendor management office manager at ExxonMobil, overseeing the contingent labor program and multiple MSPs that supports ExxonMobil’s IT services.

With over 35 years of experience in IT and commercial roles, Powell took over his current position in 2015. In 2017, Powell worked closely with the IT contingent labor MSP and fellow CW Program Game Changer Nida Totonchian to create a third-party talent strategy that would deliver improved visibility of all third-party workers, including a statement-of-work consulting catalog and ID management process.

These changes reflect Powell’s commitment to delivering a forward-thinking program. Powell believes that the ability to meet business requirements and acquiring the right talent at the right time along with ensuring speed and quality is mandatory. In this role, his portfolio has delivered multimillion-dollar savings.

Powell notes that his biggest challenge has been adapting to the ever-changing external environment and working remotely, but he continues to collaborate using digital platforms. “The economies will recover and competition for talent will continue, so the future holds new opportunities for all,” he says.
