Strategic Resourcing Project Manager Georgina Jones spearheads The Co-op Group’s diverse contingent labor program, which encompasses both time-and-material engagements as well as statement-of-work projects with an approximate annual value of £80 million. Additionally, Jones leads the organization’s response to the UK’s “Off-Payroll” reform.

Since 2016, Jones and her team have implemented numerous improvements to the way the organization engages contingent labor, delivering significant cost savings, process efficiencies, mitigated risk all while achieving improved NPS scores. By ensuring the program is relevant and aligned to both the organisational, market and economic context, Jones plays a critical role in enabling the organization to achieve its vision, while delivering a commercially successful and sustainable flexible workforce model.

“Contingent labor plays a vital role in our operating model,” Jones says, “whether it’s drivers, customer service operatives, project managers, software engineers or chefs.” It enables the group to respond quickly to social and economic events and remain at the forefront of the market across all of its offerings. “Regardless of the way we engage contingent labor, it’s critical that we understand why and when we do it, so we can determine how best to operate this high value and critical sourcing channel. Our vision is to deliver sustained shared value to our members and communities, optimize our processes and create a fit for purpose, agile operating model that ensures our competitive advantage.”
