Biagio Pucci has been with Caterpillar Inc. for nearly 21 years in a variety of roles, serving as the global category procurement manager for the company since 2016. His current responsibilities include deployment of the contingent worker program globally, supporting a comprehensive expansion of how work is sourced. Currently, Caterpillar’s Third-Party Labor (TPL) program, or TPL, spans six countries, with a headcount of nearly 9,000.

Recently, Pucci shepherded the second wave of Caterpillar’s Japan population into the program, a difficult implementation that he counts as one of his most exciting accomplishments of late. Additionally, he finalized a means to engage with niche IC populations, balancing compliance and vetting process requirements with easier-to-use processes, making engagement easier via key partnerships with select providers and identified increased spend with additional diverse providers through the annual RFI.

For Pucci, the CW space is one of enormous opportunity, particularly regarding technology. He has led the TPL program in identifying places to optimize and automate talent acquisition and management processes, successfully achieving 83% global program adoption. Looking ahead, Pucci plans to continue partnering with HR to look at initiatives holistically and strategically, rejecting a “cookie-cutter approach” and exploring various channels to source work including direct sourcing.
