Andreas Hettwer heads the global procurement category for contingent workforce and professional services at Capgemini. Having joined the company in 2004, Hettwer started as a category manager for contingent workforce and attained his current position in 2018.

The establishment of a direct sourcing platform has been his biggest transformational achievements so far in his global role. “With the increasing number of external talents, especially in North America and Europe, we felt the need to use our powerful employer brand more effectively to attract contractors and to build a highly digitalized and seamless end-to-end process for a top contractor experience,” he says.

His team introduced the “Freelancer Gateway by Capgemini” in 2019, a platform through which Capgemini engages with contractors directly. “The objective is to build an extended workbench with highly qualified contractors who want to repetitively work in our engagements and if both sides wish to, convert into a permanent employment contract,” he says.

Hettwer is also working on the evolution of the company’s existing global contingent workforce program toward a total talent management solution linking the business, HR, procurement and the resource supply chain.

Amid the Covid-19 crisis, Hettwer notes that the intimacy between engagement managers, resource supply chain, procurement and suppliers/contractors ensures business continuity and helps dealing with uncertainties of suppliers/contractors.

Going forward, Hettwer thinks that more flexibility in the total workforce and remote working will continue to be top concerns.
