Amar Nathwani assumed the role of senior global sourcing manager at Verizon nearly three years ago, after more than seven years with the company. In this role, he manages the company’s CW and SOW program, spanning the US, EMEA, APAC, India and LATAM, with an overall annual spend of $850 million.

Nathwani takes particular pride in his work with Verizon’s C-level, creating a strategic roadmap for the global contingent program and building technology that would support the user experience of the organization through one platform. Most notably, Nathwani has implemented a global VMS and MSP, and reduced the global supply base from 350 partners to 52. He believes that all stakeholders within the microcosm have an integral part to play. In the next one to two years, he plans to move the program away from just time and materials to true services procurement and total talent management. The purpose of the program, Nathwani says, is “to arm stakeholders with the right information, to make the right purchase, at the right time, in the right way.”

The CW space comes with its share of unique challenges, but for Nathwani, those challenges are an exciting part of its future. “We’re purchasing human capital, not hardware or software. The dynamics change all the time, the legislation globally moves daily for example. But moving into services procurement and total talent management should be exciting for any organization.”
